Back to School at Holly House
Holly House was bustling with energy and smiles during this year's Back to School event, held at Holly House on July 29th and coordinated by Community Health Worker, LeeAnn of MC-LHEAT. Families gathered to prepare for the new school year, enjoying a day of generosity, connection, and community spirit.
Thanks to donations from Equity Bank (backpacks, paper, pencils, and water bottles), Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy (several bottles of hand sanitizer), and the Coffeyville Public Library (books), along with contributions from many caring neighbors, families received boxes of tissues, disinfectant wipes, hygiene items, clothing, shoes, and much more.
Community partners including Parents as Teachers, ABC Day Care, the Rec Center, KFAN, local schools, the Salvation Army, and Genesis joined in to share resources and spend time with attendees. Volunteers helped make the day run smoothly and welcoming for all.
In total, 36 families were served, representing 79 children, including 65 school-age youth from preschool through high school. Guests received school supplies and snack bags and learned about community programs and services available throughout the year. As Leeann shared, "It was a beautiful day of fellowship and encouragement—proof that when neighbors come together, every child starts the school year with hope and support."
